Today is Father’s Day, and I wanted to write this blog to show my father another way of appreciation. Let me first tell you about my dad.
First, let me start by saying my dad is AMAZING! I remember as a little girl, I would always depend on my dad. I would hold on to his arm as I walked and talked to him about any and everything. One thing about my dad, he is a great listener. My dad is also the yes parent. I remember running to ask my father for money after my mother would tell me no at first. My dad always told me, “go get my wallet; when I came back, he would give me what I asked for and more. Yes, my dad used to treat me like his little princess and now like a young queen!
My dad has taught me a lot over the years, and he is currently teaching me more. My dad taught me the Lord’s Prayer, the same prayer that I now pray every day. My dad taught me how to play spades, iron, fish, and so much more! One of the most important things my dad has taught me was to always believe in myself and never give up on my goals! My dad told me always to keep going!
When I thought I was doing good, my dad always challenged me to do great! My dad would always give me long speeches and talks when I was younger, as I got older, all those speeches and talks hit me. I was too busy trying to fit in with the crowd during my younger years! As I got older, I started to listen and put his advice more into more actions! Thanks to all my dad’s golden advice, I’m now about to graduate with a Master’s degree, and it only gets better after that! My dad has always pushed me to know more, do more, and never settle for less!
I can go on and on about my father, but I need to address something directly to him.
Dad, thank you for always protecting me. When I use to go out with friends, you stayed up to make sure I was safe. You could be so tired, but you would always stay up until you got a phone call or heard me walk into the door. After relationships that didn’t work out, you were there to pick up the pieces. Rather I was in a relationship or not; you always surprised me with huge stuff animals on Valentine’s Day! Even as I’m getting older, you still make me feel like your little girl. I’m so short and sweet, but I will turn into the hulk when it comes to you.
I know it’s Father’s Day, but when this day is over, I will continue to celebrate you every day. I love you in this world and afterward.
