Helping others is something I enjoy doing. At times, I think I should have got my Master’s Degree in counseling. It’s a blessing to know that I’m someone that others can call and get some advice from. It’s power knowing that others trust me, and I can be a source of peace for them. Let me pause, it is a blessing, but it can also become a burden. It’s important to know the difference before their problems start to way down on you, like they sometimes would on me.
I had to sit down and realize that is important to keep being that Godly person and help others, but don’t take on too much. Hear their story, offer prayer, and release it over to God. While I’m trying to be the peace maker, God had to remind me, that’s his job. It’s important that I’m the servant being there for others, but not the one who will do the saving from all their problems. Only God can save others not me.
Can the problems of others weigh you down? Absolutely. It’s easy when someone keeps telling you the same story and you give them the same answer, it’s a sign they don’t hear you or they don’t believe you. That’s when the burden happens, and God has to step in. This has happened to me more than once, but I’ve put a stop to it.
Let’s pray together! It’s important that after hearing from others I ask to pray with them. This shows that I’m taking it out my hands and agreeing with the other person that God is going to work it out. MATTHEW 18:20 KJV “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” It’s a blessing that I’m always going to be that friend, co-worker or family member that supports others! I just won’t let some of their problems weigh me down.
