What is my definition of the Valentine’s blues? It’s feeling sorry for yourself because you might be alone or will be alone on Valentine’s Day! Let me say this sweetly, “Pick your pretty self -up and know that this is just another day.” Don’t get caught up feeling lonely, or simply settling. If I can keep it real, last year, I did feel some type of way. I settled by going out to eat with the wrong person, when I should have said yes to the right one. And, I ended up buying jewelry, chocolate, and a teddy bear for myself!
Celebrate yourself! If you love yourself, buy yourself something! Celebrate others, because true authentic love looks good. Don’t be the one with something negative to say. Find your own way to celebrate this special day. Also, if the right one asks to do something sweet for you, don’t be so quick to say no. Let those good guys win. Whatever you do, don’t get stuck with feeling blue! In other words, don’t be sad.
I heard some people say, “You should show love every day!” I agree. God is love, so yes, spread love like confetti. I get that, but don’t be so quick to shoot down Valentine’s Day. If you don’t celebrate it, it’s ok, just don’t rain on the parade of others. Whether you celebrate this day or not, just know that God is love, and you can experience his love every day, all day including Valentine’s Day!
So, I’m ending this blog with hugs to all of you over the internet. I love the colors pink and red, and I love that a lot of love is being spread. I hope you find a way to not feel blue, just love yourself and know that God loves you.
