A woman I met looked at me and said, “At your age, I was married.” She said, “You’re too pretty not to be married.” I looked at her and said, “Thanks, I’m waiting on the Lord.” I also meet plenty of women asking me if I have kids, I then reply, “No”. Those women then respond saying, “I have a single son.” Maybe it sounds crazy but sometimes the world we live in likes to push marriage and kids on us. In reality, I’m not on their timeline, I’m on God’s. When society says you should have accomplished at a certain age, God shows us he has perfect timing for everything. This blog is for those who aren’t currently married or have kids. I thought I would lay down some points that have helped me and could help you too.
While you’re waiting, write down the desires of your life and pray over them. If you desire marriage, write it down and prepare for it! If you want kids, do the same. There is power in writing down things and praying for what we desire. Also, don’t be anxious and make quick moves based on your feelings! Sometimes rushing can ruin the unexpected blessings that God has in store for you.
Ask God to prepare you! Before we step in our married season and mother season, ask God to start preparing you! Ask God to work on you and fix those areas that you need improvement in. We will never be perfect, but we can always be prepared. The more we ask and talk to God to prepare us for what we’re praying for, it can lead to what we desire and so much more.
Enjoy this season because you might not ever get it back! I love hearing married women and those who have kids tell me to enjoy the season I’m currently in because being married and having kids is a blessing, but it’s also a lot of work! In this season, we have more freedom, and we should be happy and thankful before God opens new doors in our life. Enjoy the now and be excited for the future. Trust me, you can definitely have fun and find joy while you wait! I’m currently doing both of those things now.
Lastly, never feel bad for what you don’t have! Never feel less than when people say what you should have and why it is taking you too long. My sister always says, “Don’t believe everything you see on social media. Trusting God’s timing is important!” God knows when to send that spouse and children! If these things are God’s will for your life, trust me, it’s already done.
Wow! Powerful blog. I agree with everything!
