Health is Wealth

Trying to fit in my favorite dress, I almost screamed. The back zipper wouldn’t go up and I had enough. I also complained about having no energy like I once had in my young twenties! I said, “Gym, I’m all yours and my current diet has to change. Health is not only about how you look on the outside, it’s also about how you feel on the inside. I decided to change some bad habits in order to become healthier all 2024 and forever. I have advice from experts and myself on how to get fit and stay in shape. It’s time to address what’s going in our bodies, getting into physical activities, and finding ways to make sure our mind is also healthy!

What’s going in your body? I love fried food, junk food, and cookies but they aren’t always good. I also found out fast food wasn’t making me feel any better. In this season, I’m replacing a cheeseburger with a salad. Some healthy tips I got for eating better are listed below from Ashlee Brown Walker.

1. Try plant-based options
Example: Meatless Mondays

2. Incorporate 3-4 different veggies or fruit per day

Examples: breakfast-fruit, lunch-veggie and fruit, dinner- two veggies, and late-night snack-fruit

3. Portion control
Don’t overeat
Examples: Check portion sizes when cooking or weigh food before cooking to help

4. Eliminate bread and dairy for a week.

Example: Challenge yourself to endeavor towards activities that will contribute to your personal growth and well-being.

5. Switch up the soda for natural juices with no added sugar

Example: Change coffee to tea with honey or non-dairy milk

I love my gym and I need to stop cheating on it! I feel as if physical fitness cannot only make us look better but also feel better. I found that people who work out more tend to have way more energy. I listed below some physical fitness tips for beginners from Cedric Logan. He constantly gives me advice about physical fitness, and he goes to the gym 6 days a week!

1. Start gradually to avoid injuries. Begin with light exercises and gradually increase intensity.

2. Stay hydrated before, during, and after workouts to maintain energy levels and aid in recovery.

3. Incorporate a variety of exercises to work different muscle groups and prevent boredom.

4. Ensure proper form to prevent injuries and maximize the effectiveness of your workout.

5. Rest and recovery are essential for muscle repair and growth, so allow your body time to recover between sessions.

6. Set realistic goals to stay motivated and track your progress.

7. Consult with a fitness professional or trainer to create a personalized workout plan tailored to your needs and goals.

Last but not least! A healthy mind makes things a lot easier! Mental health is a big deal. In life, if we can control our mind, we can easily break down and start feeling horrible. In order to avoid having those types of problems, I listed some tips below that have helped me and I’m certain they can help you as well.

2. Read a book that excites you and makes you relaxed and calm.

3. Hangout with positive and uplifting people! Good company creates a happier life.

4. Write it out! I love writing and getting out all my emotions !

5. Spend time in nature! It’s something about having fresh air and seeing just how beautiful life is outdoors.

6. Celebrate yourself and others!

7. Dance it out! Move your body more and have fun! Seek more ways to release smiles daily.

So cheers to becoming healthier all 2024! I don’t know about you, but my healthy journey starts now.
