“She was “married to the world” rather than God, her Maker.” – Dawn Dyson Ministries
Looking back over my life, I’ve changed a lot. I honestly could say I enjoyed sin in the past, but I’m thankful I didn’t die while living a sinful life. No, I’m not perfect and the Aeriel you see today is no longer married to the world. I’m not looking back at past sins, because I’m too busy moving forward! I’m not here to judge anyone. I’m just truly thankful I don’t do the things I used to do. I must say while re reading about Sodom and Gomorrah it once again gave me chills! I listed below a few lessons from Lot’s Wife.
1. Living a sinful life might seem fun, but it can lead to many dangers! I feel as if many people don’t want to leave a sinful life because they don’t want to be known as boring! Although I don’t do a lot of things I used to do, my life is far from boring. The older and more mature I became the more adventures and peace came I found in Christ. When I left the late-night club life, I started waking up to breakfast in different countries. Not wanting to leave the sin you enjoy could leave you stuck and sometimes become deadly.
2. Don’t look back when God is moving you forward. “When God destroyed Sodom, he gave Lot the chance to escape with his family before the destruction went down.” -Jordan Alessi Lot’s wife decided to turn around and look back at what she loved and then suddenly she turned into a pillar of salt! She couldn’t let go of the things God knew would destroy her and her family. It’s like some of us need to let go of the things God told us to be free from.
3. Obeying God can save your life! Disobeying God can end your life. As scary as that might sound, it’s true. Maybe Lot’s wife thought looking back would be harmless, but it ended up harmful. Maybe she was emotionally attached to the sins that were getting burned down! When God is telling you to stop listening to certain music, going to certain places, or hanging around certain people, trust him. I do believe that God sends warnings before destruction.
Knowing about the sins that were going on in Sodom and Gomorrah makes me think about some of the things happening in the world today. Some of us are free from that lifestyle and some are still living in it. Never stay stuck because God is still in the business to forgive and help us move forward. I encourage you to read Genesis chapter 19 in the Bible.
