What to Wash Away This Spring

N.Y.C after dancing in the rain

It’s springtime, and as I hear all the rain, I think about the things we should wash away. Just like pollen, some things have to go! The things I feel we need to let go of are grudges, laziness, doubt, complaining, and fear.

  1. Grudges! It’s time to wash all your grudges away. “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32. We are to bless to let grudges hold us back! Let grudges go so you can GROW!
  2. Laziness will hold you back. There are many things that can keep us from moving forward, but don’t be one of them. It’s time to move and stop being lazy! “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich”. Proverbs 10:4
  3. Doubt, because with faith, you can do all things! Instead of letting doubt, fear, and worry consume you, call upon the Lord. Psalm 50:15 reminds us that God promises to deliver us when we call upon Him. Let’s eliminate our what-ifs and move forward! Life is too short to be doubtful. Pray and follow God’s lead!
  4. We have far too much to be thankful for to waste time complaining. Complaining serves no purpose. Let’s focus on being more thankful and grateful instead. Let’s eliminate negative talk and ungratefulness. An older wise man once said to be thankful for everything. As it says in Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear”.
  5. We won’t let fear hold us back! Let’s stand firm against fear. When fear comes near, shut the door and move forward. Overcoming fear makes it easier to move forward. As Isaiah 41:10 says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse highlights God’s constant presence and support, urging believers to trust in His power over fear.

It’s to wash these things away! Life becomes so much easier when you learn to say goodbye to the things that constantly rain on our parade.
