Thoughts from Ruth and Boaz: The Movie

A photo from Ruth & Boaz Netflix Movie

If you haven’t seen the popular movie Ruth and Boaz on Netflix, I suggest you watch it. This is a movie produced by DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry, based on a modern-day interpretation of Ruth and Boaz from the Bible. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so if you haven’t seen the movie, watch it first and then come back to this link.

This movie was not only great, it was also powerful! Here are some thoughts after watching it.

Where you go, I’ll go! Ruth’s words to Naomi spoke a very strong message to me. Naomi had not only lost her husband but also her son. Ruth was dating her son at the time, and Naomi told her it was time to leave the city. Little did she know, Ruth was going with her! Sometimes helping or following someone who has suffered a great loss can lead to a big blessing. For example, when I lost my dad, I decided not to move to Atlanta so I could stay with my mother. While I stayed behind, I was working and met my now-husband.

Working and not twerking! Boaz saw Ruth working and focused on providing, not getting lost in the world. When we focus on growth, success will follow. Little did Ruth know she would be working while a man named Boaz would start watching! He wasn’t just any man; he was a man of God who brought love, protection, and was a provider!

He who finds a wife you don’t have to look for him; he will already see you! Ladies, the right man will see you! Just like Ruth, while working, Boaz saw her first and made his move. I love how, in the movie, he wasn’t aggressive, trying to get her in bed. He wanted to take her on dates and bring job opportunities to elevate her. Boaz also went to church, helped out Naomi, and was an overall great man of God.

The right man will look past your past! After Ruth told Boaz about her past, he wanted to not only love her but also protect her. I love how when Naomi was scared, Boaz was already in protective mode. Not only did Boaz attempt to beat up the man in Ruth’s path, but Naomi also showed up to protect her and made sure nothing would hurt Ruth. Those you care about can be the ones who will have your back in the end.

There is so much more I could write about this movie, but I’ll stop here. If you have seen the movie, leave me a comment below.
