Why are you rushing?

I don’t know about you, but I went through a period in my life where I was always rushing. Rushing to get off of work, Can I leave early? Rushing to get married, Ashlee where is my Boaz? And, rushing to do a ton of other things. Rushing my life finally came to an end when I had a talk with God in my prayer closet. On that night it became clear that I didn’t want to rush anymore.

Just like we’re getting older, time is faster than we think. Spending so much time trying to rush our days, will only cause us to one day look back and then ask ourselves where did the time go? Wanting everything quick will not always bring satisfaction. Did you know that God’s timing is perfect? Rushing won’t get you or me anywhere, and life is not a short cut. If you’re continually trying to go through life taking short cuts, you’re only going to end up cheating yourself.

Rushing for me was like a thrill, a quick rollercoaster that always left me tired. It’s amazing how getting a quick thrill can result in frustration. Getting up early to make breakfast, pray, and take my precious time getting dress might sound like I’m doing the most, but I get up earlier, so I don’t feel like I have to rush. I’m also more focus and not always looking at everything as if it’s one big blur.

Life is short, and I plan to enjoy every moment of it. It’s time to realize that life is temporary! What we do with our time is essential. Wake up early, and stay up late sometimes. Enjoy your friends, hug your family members tightly, enjoy every moment that you experience now because these moments won’t last forever. Make the type of memories that are unforgettable. Enjoy your life and whatever you do don’t rush through it. We were all born, and one day we’re going to die, so while we’re here, I say we live every day and not just exist and rush through life.

  1. I really enjoyed this message. At times, I feel like I rush and it causes me to become frustrated, anxious, and sometimes upset at myself. Rushing is not how life should be. This was an amazing and well written blog that I need to read again. Thank you.

  2. Can the church say amen. This is an area that God has given me the grace to embrace. Otherwise life will go by and memories will be forgotten. Enjoyed reading this and keep them coming.
