Dear Mama

Today is Mother’s Day, and I wanted to write this blog to show my mother another way of appreciation. Let me first tell you about my mother.

Whew, let me not cry as I think about the blessing my mother has been in my life and others. Growing up as a little girl, I watched how classy and loving my mother has always been. My mother has always been a positive role model! The way my mother put her outfits together, her hair is always done, and having clean nails showed me as a young woman what I wanted to look like. Don’t get me wrong I went through a stage of dress to fit in, but I always went back to the classy woman attire that I saw while growing up. Fast Forward, I love it when others tell me that I look and dress just like my mother. A true queen who always arrive with grace.

Seeing how my mother cares for her family speaks volumes. Watching my mother go over and beyond for others, bring so many memories and smiles. My mom honestly has the biggest heart. I’ve even seen my mother treat her enemies with love and respect; she always reminds me that she is a child of God, and the Lord is her protection. I can honestly say that God has indeed made my mother’s enemies her footstool.

I can cook, but if I learn how to cook just like my mom, I know a man will never leave me, haha! I could be tired, but when I hear and smell that my mother is cooking, I’m wide awake. My mother makes the best food that I’ve ever tasted, Jesus. My mother is not only a chef; she’s a doctor when I’m sick, a lawyer when I’m in trouble, a teacher when I’m confused, a prayer partner when someone needs healing, and the list goes on! In other words, my mother is a phenomenal woman.

I can go on and on about my mother, but I need to address something directly to her.

Mom, thank you for always being my best friend. Thank you for sneaking money to me, when I want to always handle it on my own. I appreciate you building me up when I feel weak, and I love how we can shop till we drop! I don’t care what anybody says, Saturday is our day. We can leave in the morning and be back as the sun is going down. I am so blessing to have you as my mother. I know it’s Mother’s Day, but when this day is over, I will continue to celebrate you every day. I love you in this world and afterward.
